Introduction

Colorstream is the family used when a surface should change as the viewer moves. This series explains the appearance vocabulary, where the effect belongs and how to shortlist it against neighbouring families.

What it is

An effect-pigment family known for pronounced colour travel: the perceived colour shifts with viewing and illumination angle.

Where it fits

Projects where movement, dynamism or a signature appearance matters more than a single fixed colour reading — hero automotive colours, statement consumer objects, design-led surfaces.

Visual characteristics

  • Pronounced colour travel between viewing angles
  • Smooth transitions rather than hard breaks
  • Strong character on curved geometry

Technical characteristics

  • Appearance depends strongly on layer build
  • Benefits from controlled application conditions
  • Effect reading should be validated on real geometry

Typical applications

Automotive exterior hero colours
Consumer electronics
Design and concept surfaces

Selection guidance

  1. 01Choose Colorstream when the appearance change is the point.
  2. 02Review candidates on curved parts under several light conditions.
  3. 03Confirm the layer build early — travel is sensitive to it.
